Jack Rinear

Jack Rinear

(last surviving member of the trio died at 91 - May 2010)

Jack Rinear

No Western Swing collection would be complete without this CD
dedicated to the earthy vocals of Jack Rinear, the eldest of the
Rinear Trio.

Jack's talent as a natural-born crooner is apparent from the
first note of "Cocaine Blues" (an early Johnny Cash rendition),
to the last note of
"Till We Meet Again".

Despite the few songs where sound quality is flawed by the age
of the original recordings, Jack renders these simple tunes,
(mostly about love gone wrong) in a voice steeped in genuine
emotion born of experience, accompanying himself on guitar
with bass by Ronnie and fiddle by Glen.

Though known as a Western Swing band playing along the highways
and byways of Central California and along the Central Coast, the
trio sang a broad range of genres including popular songs of the
30's, 40's and 50's as well as a few folk songs.

The trio also had quite an audience in Fairbanks, Alaska and Idaho.
In later years, they played predominately in the Springville, California
area.

Jack Penned four of the songs featured here, including "I Reckon I'm
A Texan" which found it's way to "Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys"
through one of its singers, Tommy Duncan.

Jack died in Hanford, California on Mothers Day 2010 at 91 and is survived by his wife, Johnny.

Footnote: "Squaws Along The Yukon" is included as a rare
oddity, known mostly in Alaska and the Yukon territory,
in spite of no longer being politically correct!
